In nearby distance (about 4 km) there is the Heseler forest for long hikes and walks or to the deserted village in the middle of the forest. A highlight is the crank ferry (May-Oct.) With which you can translate yourself by hand from one bank to another. The fully operational Holtländer windmill offers tea, coffee and home-baked cake in its mill café from May to October. In Leer next to the harbor is the historic old town, a sign of the city.
