This 17th century water mill - unique in its design and location - in the river Dronne sits on its own private island. It is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It sits below a castle from the renaissance area, was mentioned in many cultural and travel guides and offers daily maid service.
It offers a perfect mixture of intimacy (private island with a patio and a small park; a canoe for going out on the river) while being part of the medieval town with 800 residents.
In front of the small 'Rue du Moulin', which runs below the castle along the cliff, you have access to the mill's front yard (gated), which can accommodate 2 -3 cars. A small bridge leads to the interior. You enter into a spacious entrance hall with a staircase on the left hand side, which leads to the lower level where you will find two bedrooms (double beds, small desk, chairs, armchairs) and a bathroom (shower, toilet, bidet) and access to the patio and on the right hand side a wardrobe and a staircase leading to the top floor. Here, on the right hand side, you will find the kitchen (refrigerator, freezer, stove, microwave, built in shelves) and a dining table for six. In front of the kitchen is a small balcony, offering stunning views over the river and the castle. To the left of the staircase is the living room with a fireplace, built in closets and a well-stocked library (German books), a CD collection and a dining table for 8 -9 diners. A small staircase leads up to three bedrooms (two with a double bed, the third one with two single beds), a bathroom with two sinks and a bathtub and a separate toilet. A longer staircase leads up to the mezzanine, a charming small room with a television and a desk, overlooking the river. This room has been called the "poet's room" by our guests, since it seems to have inspirational qualities.
The vicinity of the Périgord offers cultural heritage sites and a mild climate with many sights (for example caves with old cave drawings). There is a bridge crossing the Dronne on the property. The views from the bridge are unforgettable and besides the renaissance castle is one of the most beautiful sights in Bourdeilles.
