A couple of trendy waterfront restaurants overlooking the Bay of Pollença are sure to draw you back on more than one occasion, as is the adjacent shoreline that makes for great snorkelling during the day. To complete the scene, a small local store will probably stock that one item you forgot to grab whilst at the supermarket.
The natural sandy beaches of Platja de San Pere and Platja de sa font de San Joan are just around the headland, quiet sleepy sandy bays that spring in to life in June as a bundle of sunbeds suddenly appear, closely followed by a lifeguard as the ‘Chiringito’ beach bar flings open its wooden shutters and avidly starts sizzling up tasty tapas on the grill to the dulcet tones of Chill Out music. Firm favourites with the locals for views across the bay accompanied by a relaxed holiday vibe, these sandy coves tend to sit quietly under the tourist radar, proving to be one of Alcudia's better kept secrets.
The medieval ramparts of Alcudia old town are also nearby, for an excellent selection of eateries nestled between shady plazas, boutique and craft stores interwoven amongst a labyrinth of narrow cobbled lanes and striking architecture - a perfect setting for the lively local market that congregates on a weekly basis. From here the 6km stretch of white sandy, tree lined shoreline of Playa de Muro beckons, the chic port of Alcudia offers elegant dining and cocktail bars perfectly placed to watch the comings and goings of sailboats, sleek yachts and even sleeker motorboats, plus a day of watery fun at the local waterpark for younger members of the group will most certainly find its way on to the Holiday Bucket List.
